Three things the bulk item is not for
Scheduled collection for large metal and electronics
Televisions, appliances, electronics, tires and other large metal items are not put out with the bulk item. They are scheduled through E.L. Harvey & Sons, the town's contracted hauler, and carry a charge.
Mattresses and box springs — UTEC
No longer accepted as a bulk item at all. The town directs residents to UTEC, which recycles them for a charge. Massachusetts bans mattresses from disposal, so this is a state rule arriving on a driveway rather than a town preference.
Brush — Community Tree Service
Collected at the curb five times a year by Community Tree Service. Branches up to 3 inches in diameter and 6 feet long, in piles no larger than 4 feet by 6 feet, no more than three piles, tied with rope or twine.

They go to the curb by 6:30 am, and no earlier than 6:30 pm the night before, and come back in within 12 hours of collection. This is the one town in the area we have found with the rule written into its code rather than held in a department's head — and it governs household containers, not a roll-off on a driveway.
